Upon vehicle collection, Hertz Moldova will place a security deposit pre-authorization on the customer's payment card. The amount of the security deposit is determined according to the category of the rented vehicle.

The indicative security deposit amounts are as follows:

• Economy: from EUR 200 (approximately MDL 4,000)
• Mid-Size: EUR 300 (approximately MDL 6,000)
• SUV: EUR 400 (approximately MDL 8,000)
• Premium: between EUR 700 and EUR 1,000 (approximately MDL 15,000–20,000)

These amounts apply to vehicle use exclusively within the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

If the customer requests authorization to cross the national border, the required security deposit may be increased depending on the destination country and the vehicle category. For travel to Ukraine, due to the higher level of risk, the security deposit may be increased to EUR 1,500, which will remain blocked until the vehicle has been returned and all inspections and verifications have been completed.

The security deposit constitutes a pre-authorization (temporary hold) on the customer's payment card and does not represent payment for the rental service. Its purpose is to secure the customer's obligations under the Rental Agreement and it may be used to cover any damages, missing items, traffic fines, administrative fees, refueling charges, or any other costs provided for under the Rental Agreement.

The release of the security deposit is initiated after the vehicle has been returned and inspected by a Hertz Moldova representative. If the vehicle is returned in an appropriate condition, can be inspected immediately, and no damages or outstanding financial obligations are identified, the request to release the security deposit will be submitted without undue delay.

If the vehicle is returned excessively dirty or in a condition that prevents a complete technical and visual inspection, the release of the security deposit will be initiated only after the vehicle has been cleaned and all inspections have been completed.

Although Hertz Moldova initiates the release of the security deposit immediately after the inspection process has been completed, the actual time required for the funds to become available depends solely on the card-issuing bank. Depending on the bank's internal procedures, the blocked amount may be released within a few business days or, in certain cases, within up to 30 calendar days.

If any damages, breaches of the Rental Agreement, or other charges payable by the customer are identified, Hertz Moldova reserves the right to retain all or part of the security deposit until all financial obligations arising under the Rental Agreement have been settled.
